Crandall University was established as a Bible Training School in Moncton in response to concerns that the youth traveling to other regions for Christian ministry training were not returning home. The institute soon added a residential high school program to fulfill the needs of students from rural areas who needed help to get a high school education. The institute grew and expanded over the years, and its name was changed to Crandall University in honor of Joseph Crandall, credited with establishing many Baptist Churches in the region.
