Griffith University Scholarships for International Students
Undergraduate and Postgraduate Scholarships at Griffith University
1. Griffith Remarkable Scholarship
- Scholarship Amount: 50% of the tuition fee
- Eligibility Criteria
- must be a citizen of a country other than Australia and New Zealand
- must apply to be a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate student at Griffith University by the scholarship deadline
- must satisfy all admission and English language requirements

The Griffith Remarkable Scholarship is a special award granted to deserving international students by Griffith University. It applies to both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. It is applied for the entire duration of the program as long as the student maintains a minimum cumulative GPA of 5.5 on a 7.0 grading scale.
Applications for the Griffith Remarkable Scholarship are held every trimester and are conducted online. It is comprised of several steps that include filling out an online application form and uploading documents to support your application. Required documents include true copies of transcripts of records and educational certificates attesting to your academic abilities, and a personal statement detailing your need for the scholarship and why you think you deserve it.
You can expect to hear back from the scholarships team within two to three weeks.
As mentioned previously, you will be expected to have a minimum cumulative GPA of 5.5/7 to maintain eligibility for this Griffith University scholarship. Failure to comply with the grade requirement, or any other requirement in the terms and conditions, may result in the scholarship being forfeited.
2. International Student Academic Excellence/Merit Scholarship
- Scholarship Amount
- International Student Academic Excellence Scholarship: 25% of tuition fees
- International Student Academic Merit Scholarship: 20% of tuition fees

- must apply to be a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate student at Griffith University

The International Student Academic Excellence Scholarship and the International Student Academic Merit Scholarship are scholarships provided by Griffith University for international students. While the requirements for both of these slightly differ, they are essentially the same—they both offer partial discounts on overseas tuition fees based on the student’s academic merit.
When applying for admission to Griffith University, the admissions team looks through your application to determine if you’re eligible for either scholarship. This does not require any effort on your part. Both scholarships do not require a separate application to make things more convenient for you.
If you have been accepted a place in your chosen program, an offer for either the Excellence or Merit Scholarship may be included in your acceptance letter from Griffith University. This should be found under the Tuition and Other Fees header. If you do not see an offer, that means you do not qualify for the scholarship.
Like the Griffith Remarkable Scholarship, the scholarships require a minimum cumulative GPA. For the Merit Scholarship, the required grade is 5.0 to 5.49 out of 7. For the Excellence Scholarship, the required grade is 5.5 and above. The scholarship lasts the entire duration as long as the terms and conditions have been met.
Postgraduate Scholarships at Griffith University
1. CSIRO Postgraduate Scholarship
- Scholarship Amount
- depends on the nature of the doctorate degree, but usually $10000 per year for tuition fees and an additional $5000 budget for learning and development

- must have an Australian student visa and enrolled as a Ph.D. student at Griffith University
- must possess outstanding academic merit in their respective area of expertise
- must already have a primary scholarship of similar value and a university supervisor willing to oversee work

The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) is an Australian government agency dedicated to the study of science and technology. Each year, the organization partners up with research universities all over Australia like Griffith University to create long-term and sustainable solutions to the challenges the world faces today. They offer postgraduate scholarships to Ph.D. candidates who show outstanding potential in their respective fields.
While these Griffith University scholarships are geared mainly towards Australian nationals, CSIRO also offers scholarships to international students in fields that are in high demand. Examples of such fields are health and biosecurity, national collections and marine infrastructure, and space and astronomy.
Before applying for the CSIRO Postgraduate Scholarship, you must already have been accepted as a Ph.D. student at Griffith University. Additionally, because this scholarship is secondary and not primary, you must also have an existing scholarship that is already funding your postgraduate studies. The CSIRO Postgraduate Scholarship is more focused on funding your research in a working environment than funding your doctorate studies itself.
Application for the CSIRO Postgraduate Scholarship starts on the scholarship’s official website. Here, you can find lots of information about the organization, what its missions and visions are, and what they have accomplished thus far in the various fields of science and technology. You will also find what job opportunities are available on the Students & Scholarships page. Browse through the list to find a research topic that’s focused on or related to your current field of study and click on it.
You will be required to upload several documents. You will need a comprehensive resume and cover letter that details your interest in this scholarship available at Griffith University. You must also include two academic references and an outline of what you hope to achieve while working for CSIRO. Lastly, you will need academic transcripts to prove your qualifications.
Each research topic should have its own webpage, so please click on them to find more details on the application process and required documents. You will also find all available research projects for the year.
Once you’ve accomplished all requirements, you can click on `Apply` at the bottom of the webpage. You will be asked to create an account with CSIRO, and after that, you will be redirected to the online application form. Simply fill that out, upload your required documents, and submit before the application deadline.
