1. Sorbonne University

Sorbonne University is a public research institution created in 2018, although it can trace its history back to 1257 following the founding of the Sorbonne College. The current university is the result of the merger of Paris-Sorbonne & Pierre et Marie Curie universities with other smaller schools. Sorbonne University is the cheapest university in Paris for international students.

The prestigious Sorbonne University is divided into 3 faculties. One is the Faculty of Humanities, which covers the studies of Language, Geography, History, Philosophy, and Musicology, to name a few.

The Faculty of Science & Engineering, on the other hand, oversees the disciplines of Mathematics, Astrophysics, Informatics, Robotics, and Physics, to name a few. Both of the above-mentioned faculties offer double degrees in Science and Law, among many other fields. The last department is the Faculty of Medicine, which oversees the teaching institutions of the Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital and Hôspital Saint-Antoine.

Sorbonne University has a relatively diverse student population, with 20% of its learners coming from all parts of the world. All in all, about 8,700+ foreigners are studying at Sorbonne. 2. Université Paris-Saclay

Next on our list of cheap universities in Paris is the Université Paris-Saclay, a research-intensive public university based in Plateau de Saclay, Paris. It was formerly known as the University of Paris-Sud (Paris XI). Founded in 1971, the institution succeeded the University of Paris, which was established back in the year 1150.

The university’s undergraduate programs are mostly taught in French, and as such requires applicants to have a good understanding of French (B2 or C1 mark).

Although this is the case, it also offers several Master’s programs in English, such as Chemistry, Drug/Health Product Development, Economics, Physics, International Business, Life Science & Health, and Nuclear Energy, to name a few.

Foreign students who are interested in studying at the Université Paris-Saclay are required to make a pre-admission request, especially if they live in a country unsanctioned by the Etudes en France program.

True to its’ goal of globalization, Paris-Saclay plays host to 4,500 students come from various parts of the globe. This is about 16% of the total student population.

3. Gustave-Eiffel University

Gustave-Eiffel University is perhaps the newest public educational institution in Paris. Founded in January 2020, the university specializes in the study of cities and transportation.

Gustave-Eiffel University was borne out of the fusion between the University of Paris-Est Marne-la-Vallée and the French Institute of Science and Technology for Transport, Development, and Networks.

Located in the eastern suburbs of Champs-sur-Marne, this cheap university in Paris offers License (undergraduate) degrees in Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Science, and Commercial Management. It also offers a Bachelor’s degree in International Management, which has the 3rd year of this curriculum is taught in English.

Gustave-Eiffel University also has Master’s programs in Banking, Business Development, Accounting, Consulting, and Management, to name a few. It also offers an International MBA that is fully taught in English.

4. Université de Paris

The current Université de Paris is the result of the 2019 merger between the University of Paris VI and VII. It is another one of the descendants of the University of Paris, which was then known as the College of Sorbonne.

As an internationalized institution, the Université de Paris offers international joint undergraduate degrees in Chemistry, History, and Law. It also offers 17 master’s degrees in English. These cover the fields of Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, Life Science, Neuroscience, Banking & Finance, Comparative Law, and Public Health.

As of current, the Université de Paris is home to more than 11,000 foreign students, which corresponds to 20% of the school’s total population.

To apply at the Université de Paris, foreign students are required to submit their requirements via the Etudes en France portal. Once considered, the university may require the applicant to attend an interview or undergo a language test.

Université de Paris also offers French courses to its new international students, a course that may be taken throughout the entire academic year.

5. Université Paris Dauphine – PSL

The final candidate on this article of cheapest universities in Paris is the Université Paris Dauphine – PSL, the only French institution to be both a Grand Ecole and university. It was founded in 1968 as a faculty for the studies of Law, Management, Economics, to name a few. In 2009, it was awarded the EQUIS accreditation before being made one of the co-partners of PSL University in 2011.

The university offers Bachelor’s degrees in Organization Science (Law, Social Science, Management, and Applied Economics), Applied Mathematics, and Computer Science. Apart from that, the institution also offers 95 Master’s specializations, 5 Doctorate programs, and 90 Executive Education programs.

As a member of the SIGMA alliance, Paris Dauphine students may go on student exchanges at the Copenhagen Business School in Denmark, Renmin University in China, and Hitotsubashi University in Japan, to name a few.

As with most Parisian universities, foreign Paris Dauphine applicants must submit their applications through the Etude en France portal.
