Wolverhampton Tradesmen’s and Mechanic’s Institute was the origin of the University of Wolverhampton, founded in 1827. In 1969, it was renamed Wolverhampton Polytechnic through a merger with the Municipal School of Art. It was later renamed to University of Wolverhampton after obtaining its ‘university status’ in 1992. As comprised by four campuses, the main city campus is located in Wolverhampton, while the second and third campuses are located in Walsall and Telford, respectively. In addition to the city center campus in Wolverhampton, another campus was added in the University of Wolverhampton Science Park that serves as the fourth school.
